Sharpening machine, which I do not recommend buying

click fraud protection

I have two chainsaws on my farm - a large and a small one, which I constantly have to use - either for construction, or for preparing firewood for the bathhouse. At the same time, sharpening of chains sometimes became a problem if in the village where we built the house, the only sharpener was “out of shape”, but, simply put, in another binge.

A sharpening machine, which I do not recommend for purchase - in 2 years it showed itself not from the best side

Therefore, 2 years ago I decided to purchase and master a new tool for myself - an electric sharpening machine. Since I love Russian-made equipment, I took the EZS-130M "Caliber". But this time it turned out that the brand was wrong.

A sharpening machine, which I do not recommend for purchase - in 2 years it showed itself not from the best side

True, I did not immediately understand this, because at first I was learning to work on it, getting my hands on it, consulting with specialists about what life hacks are in this matter. And I realized that my machine is very low-power, although not the worst, I'll tell you right away. He does his job, sharpens the chains, but does it slowly.

On average, one tooth takes 5-7 seconds. And it should take 3-4 seconds. The fact is that the working surface is an abrasive wheel, which is driven by a single-phase collector motor. And it develops the necessary speed too slowly, as a result it has to be accelerated, and only then sharpened. It eats up time.

But all other indicators of the machine are not bad - it is convenient, it can be bolted to the workbench, for which there are mounting holes, but the bolts must be bought by ourselves.

The handle is ergonomic, allows you to conveniently control the tilt. There are protective screens, the angle of rotation of which can be changed. The base has a screw handle to limit the tilt.

The machine allows you to adjust the depth and angle of sharpening, adjust the angle of inclination.

On average, it takes 15 minutes to sharpen a 36-tooth chain, and 25-30 minutes to sharpen a large 72-tooth chain. It is long, but acceptable for its use.

But if you are engaged in sharpening chains as a business, then this machine is clearly not suitable. Sharpening one chain costs 100 rubles, in our village the price is the same. A simple calculation makes it clear that there is no benefit, and there are few customers.

Moreover, I took it purely for myself, I send the villagers to the old prisoner, because this is the only way for him to earn a living. Sharpen only to relatives and close friends. They say it's good. I like it myself.

But for those who are thinking about such a purchase, I advise you to take a more powerful machine.
