How to easily save Houseplants from being eaten by a Pet

A common problem for many is the interest of pets in the plants that are in the house. These can be potted plants or flowers in a vase.

My pet is a cat and I want to share my proven and effective ways.

How to keep pets away from plants

There are several ways that I use, namely:

· Add one teaspoon of ground hot pepper to 100 ml of water. I put the solution in a spray bottle and spray the leaves of the plants. The smell scares the animal away, and he will not want to taste it.

Be sure to consider the type of plant, as spraying is not recommended for some plants. And do not use this method for flowering plants, so as not to spoil their appearance;

· Use of aluminum foil. I spread the rustling foil around flower pots or directly on the soil in a pot. The cat will not like rustling and will not come close to flowers;

· Cats do not like the smell of citrus fruits. Therefore, you can spread the peel of a tangerine, lemon, orange near the plants. I use it as a decorative element;

· Citrus essential oil can be successfully used. A few drops of essential oil diluted in water will act as a repellent for your cat. I spray this solution in the air around the plants and on the soil in the flower pot.

If you notice that your cat likes to eat plants, then you can conclude that there is a lack of greens rich in vitamins in its diet.

In addition, they need coarse vegetable food. In this case, I advise especially for the pet to grow grass, which they can freely feast on.

With free access to grass, the cat will not disturb other plants in the house. The ideal choice is wheat, barley, oat greens.

In addition to products that scare off cats, you can use other natural and simple methods of plant protection, namely:

· Place plants out of the reach of the animal. It can be placed on walls or in hanging pots;

· Choose stable and heavy pots for plants, which the cat cannot turn over;

· Make a decorative fence around the plant;

· Supplement the collection of your favorite flowers with plants that animals do not like. Such plants include bulbous plants, citrus fruits, herbs with a spicy aroma.

It is very important to consider plant safety for your pet. So some types of indoor plants are poisonous and dangerous to cats. These include begonia, hydrangea, spathiphyllum, philodendrons.
