By planting garlic in the fall, you can harvest in June. The technology of planting garlic itself is not very complicated. But to get a decent harvest, you need to avoid a few planting mistakes. I myself once made these mistakes.

5 My mistakes that I advise you to avoid

· One of the most common mistakes is the choice of location. In the case of garlic, the rules of crop rotation must be taken into account in the same way as with other plants.

Do not plant garlic in the same area for several years in a row. The harvest will be better if you plant garlic in place of squash, greens, cabbage or cucumbers.

But after carrots, beets or onions, do not plant garlic in any case.

· Another mistake is the excess of fertilizers. We usually think that the more fertilizer the better. But this position is not always correct. Especially when you plant garlic before winter.

This mainly applies to nitrogenous fertilizers. After planting, do not feed them garlic. Fertilization can provoke a rapid growth of green mass. Young shoots will freeze during the period when frosts come.

· It is impossible to refuse disinfection of planting material. This is an important treatment to protect garlic from bacteria and pests. It is not necessary to buy expensive disinfectants.

A weak solution of potassium permanganate is quite suitable. Just soak the garlic cloves in the solution for a couple of hours before planting.

· Do not peel garlic before planting. I used to think that the scales would prevent the garlic from germinating, and I cleaned it completely. The result was very poor seedlings.

As it turned out, scales, on the contrary, are needed. It protects delicate teeth from pathogens.

· Do not divide the heads into teeth in advance. If you bought a landing gear in advance, then keep in mind that it is better to store it in teeth. Of course, it is more convenient to get the prepared cloves at the right time and plant them right away.

But in this case, you need to be prepared for the fact that most of the cloves will already be damaged by the time of planting. You can separate the heads on the eve of planting.
