How to "cheer up" the Decembrist and make him bloom beautifully for the New Year
The popularity of the Decembrist among flower growers is understandable - you must admit that few plants bloom in winter, and besides, for the new year.
But as I learned from my own sad experience, often this plant begins to be capricious, not wanting to bloom its such long-awaited flowers. But it doesn't matter.
You just need to cheer up the Decembrist a little and then everything will fall into place. I'll be happy to tell you how to do this.
Decrease in temperature
With the onset of stable cold autumn days, it is necessary to provide the Decembrist with a period of rest. For about one month, I take the plant outside (if you live in an apartment building, you can take it to the balcony).
In this case, it is important to protect the flower from rain and sun rays. Why is this necessary, you ask? I explain: the fact is that the Decembrist lays flower buds only when the temperature drops.
Maintenance under special conditions
Throughout this time, the Decembrist cannot be watered. In addition, it is necessary to completely exclude the possibility of moisture getting on the plant.
Don't be afraid, foliage will not wither. After the air temperature drops below +10 degrees, the Decembrist must be brought into the room and periodically watered.
Watering frequency should not exceed twice a month. At this time, waterlogging the soil is strictly contraindicated.
Lighting features
It is important to make adjustments to the light intensity. So, starting from the last decade of October, the length of daylight hours for a plant should be at most 8 hours per day. It is important that the light is diffused.
Moreover, after being in the illumination mode, it is necessary that the Decembrist be kept in complete darkness for the rest of the day.
How much to wait?
If you strictly and unswervingly followed my recommendations, then you can count the time. About 50 days will pass and long-awaited flowers will certainly appear on your Decembrist.
Important addition
As soon as you see the first buds on the plant, remember that in no case should you move the flower pot and even just move it, turning it on the other side. The Decembrist may not like this and it is possible that he will drop the buds.
Follow my advice and on the eve of the New Year you can achieve the Decembrist bloom! All recommendations have been tested by me personally and I can tell you with confidence that they really work!
