Not all grandmothers are summer residents... a real story
Ruslan, entrepreneur, owner of a chain of shops "Fresh vegetables and fruits":
“I was brought into this business by my brother, who has been supplying vegetables for over ten years. I rented two outlets and started working according to a ready-made and proven scheme: I bought it on the base - I sold it in a store with a wrap. Everything is trite, but I'm not ashamed of it - I pay taxes, I don't deceive anyone.
There are often women standing near one of my shops, which is a stone's throw from the central market. elderly and sell all sorts of small things: herbs, garlic, apples, when raspberries and strawberries, sometimes grapes and plum. I didn't pay attention to them, I even felt sorry for them. Once in the summer I posted a post on my Instagram: "Support grandmothers, buy goods from them so that they do not stand in the heat!"
But then one day my brother came to this point. I learned about this from the shouts and swearing that came from the street. My relative dispersed these women, which shocked me. But the real shock came when he told me who these grandmothers were and where their vegetable garden was.
In short, their business is structured as follows: these pseudo-giver grandmothers buy illiquid goods at wholesale trade and purchasing bases and sell them to gullible citizens under the guise of grown with a soul on their own vegetable garden. And it never entered my head!
But that's not all - sometimes the goods go to their counter directly from the warehouse trash can. These women, disguised as poor people, take vegetables, fruits, berries, greens (with foul or mold) directly from containers, sort them out, pack them up and sell them.
If you don't believe me, here's an example: dried greens restore their presentation if put in ice-cold acidified water for an hour and a half. And everything else just gets over, but not everything is thrown out - a rotten apple with the whole side will go for dried fruits, which then the gullible mommy will buy for her child at a cheap price from the compassionate old ladies. That's the whole scheme!
In our town they do not dispose of expired goods and spoiled goods (although they should), but simply put them on the territory of the base, where everyone can take them. But not everything even reaches the trash can - the best part of the surplus is sold for free to dealers who hire these women for distribution. I checked it, to my regret, my brother's words were 100% true.
Why am I telling this? Because now I know that they harm my trade. They do not steal openly, but I do not receive my profit. Until a client comes to me, he will buy some of the products for a cheap price from such vendors. They do not stand anymore near my points, but they stand twenty meters at the bus stop. What's the point because I drive them away?
I do not want to blame all the trading grandmothers without exception. I urge you to be vigilant and attentive to distinguish real summer residents from shameless tradesmen. Many of the pseudo-donors are hired workers of rogue merchants. Illiquid liquid in the hands of a fraudster becomes a commodity sold under a pitiful legend».
Why is it worth considering
Before you buy a bunch of dill or two kilos of potatoes from an old woman, think about the following.
It is difficult to grow surplus in the country
6 are not invented by chance. It is no secret that literally everything was optimized in the USSR. The size of the kitchen in the apartment was calculated to prepare food and feed the average family modestly. The dimensions of the hallway allowed this average person to put on outerwear and shoes. Toilet, bathroom - minimum space, no surplus.
So these six hundred square meters were also thought out not for farming, but in order to grow the very minimum for the same average family. The proletarians disliked all kinds of speculators and traders and foresaw a piece of land in advance, from which it was impossible to obtain a surplus. Well, or in extreme cases, a bucket of apples, a box of cucumbers or a bucket of raspberries will remain from the harvest, the sale of which will not bring tangible profit.
In order to grow goods for sale on such a site, you need to own agricultural technology, apply pesticides and fertilizers, water, weed and care for on time. Moreover, we must guard the garden so that nothing is taken away. For such a "business" you need at least 12 acres and not to be served by grandparents. Don't agree with this? Grandma won't take much on herself
How much can a middle-aged woman take with her? Maximum load the cart with tomatoes, cucumbers, berries and herbs - ten kilograms. But we can observe the same summer residents with goods every day. If you connect the logic, it turns out that this grandmother has whole plantations, which have an abundance of vegetables and berries. And also an elderly woman has time to harvest and bring all this to the market in the morning. In terms of the amount sold, one might think that they only have 10-15 acres of raspberries. But if you look closely, you can see that they have hidden buckets of goods, or that goods are being brought or brought directly from a nearby store.
Turkish fruits at Russian dachas
Well, the main trump card. Most of the inhabitants of the apartments do not distinguish too much a shop pear from a pear grown in a local garden, or homemade potatoes from an imported one. This is what dishonest traders use. It is worth looking at the product very carefully, perhaps you will find overseas fruits and vegetables that, well, cannot grow in our dachas, especially in the conditions of central Russia. For example, in the Voronezh market you can see imported quince among summer residents. But perhaps these grandmothers are outstanding breeders, but we do not know about it ...
