3 reasons I keep planting annual asters every year
Fiery fireworks, fellow flower growers!
How many amazing plants have appeared in our gardens over the past 2 decades. Bacopa, surfiniya, diastia... Until recently, no one heard of them. New items are beautiful and original, but every year I try not to forget about the classics.. From old, well-known flowers, I always choose annual asters, planting their seeds in April for seedlings.
The first reason for loyalty to the one-year-old Astra is its appearance.
He is familiar to me since childhood: on Knowledge Day, I always went with a bouquet of asters and a "Christmas tree". I like her large and double flowers. Few of the annuals can boast of this shape and size.
In recent years, many interesting and unusual varieties have appeared. From the variety of shapes and colors, I want to try every combination. When I go to a flower shop, I spend half an hour waiting for the asters that will grow with me this year.
Yes, sometimes new items are disappointing. But some - go into the category of permanent residents of the garden.
Long-lasting beauty is another aster's trump card
Aster is not a one-day flower. I like the long flowering time. I try to select varieties for my garden not only for beauty. I draw your attention to the timing of flowering - early aster or late. I combine different varieties and it turns out that asters bloom in the flower beds from mid-summer to late autumn.
After all, aster - plants that are not afraid of the first cold. Flowers adorn my garden until October. Some residents are losing their attractiveness before our eyes, others are already sheltered. And asters, it seems, are just getting into a rage thanks to the autumn coolness.
The delights of caring for asters
Astra, despite the splendor of flowering and beauty, is surprisingly not demanding to care for. My work with a plant comes down to standard weeding (and where without it!) And watering in a drought. Asters endure a short-term lack of precipitation steadily and without losses.
I also don’t feed the aster. I do all the work to increase the fertility of the flower beds 1 time in the spring. When digging up the soil, I add compost and complex mineral fertilizer - "Nitroammofosku". This is where my worries about the aster end. And she doesn't seem to complain!
