My categorical "No" in the care of Women's happiness. I advise you not to repeat my mistakes (I have already fixed)
Fiery fireworks, fellow flower growers!
Today on the agenda is a decidedly beautiful flower from the large Aroid family. With proper care, noble spathiphyllum blooms almost non-stop all year round and grows in a pot at Stakhanov's pace.
At first, I could not find an approach to spathiphyllum. It turned yellow, then blackened. And he released only 3 flowers a year. Much time has passed since then. Reading the advice of other flower growers, I found 5 mistakes in my indoor plant care. I share with you, comrades: do not repeat them!
Trust spraying as a way to deal with dry ends
In any instruction for spathiphyllum, spraying from a spray bottle is almost in the first place. In theory, additional moisture should reduce the risk of brown and dry leaf tips.
I responsibly sprayed "Women's Happiness" morning and evening. But dry ends still appeared. Until I changed the watering schedule. I began to water the houseplant with a warm shower once a week and make sure that there was always water in the pan.
Now the tips dry very rarely and this is noticeable only upon closer inspection. It is possible to constantly pour water into the pan only if good drainage is placed on the bottom of the pot.
Extremes with lighting
Spathiphyllum, being on the south window, burned down in one May day. Almost a third of the leaves looked like crumpled brown paper. In the warm half of the year, you need to make sure that the direct rays of the sun do not fall on "Women's Happiness".
But it is dangerous to clean deep into the room. Spathiphyllum will not disappear, but it will grow slowly and bloom less often. Better soft and diffused, but sufficient light.
Do not replant every year and do not divide
In the second year of growing spathiphyllum, I faced a big problem. The leaves began to turn black, indicating dangerous root rot. Yes, my pot of "Women's Happiness" is always in the water. But there was no problem before. And in nature spathiphyllum - an inhabitant of swamps of tropical rainforests.
It turned out not to be excessive moisture. And in the so-called soil acidification. Over time, fungi accumulate at the bottom of the pot, causing root rot. Every plant that is watered abundantly needs to be replanted every spring.
Another big mistake, comrade, is not to split the bush during transplanting. I noticed: it is worth separating the old divisions and leaving room for the young. It - the renewal of the flower, which makes its appearance much more attractive. Such plants, where the center of the bush is loose, bloom much more abundantly than those where the entire center of the pot is clogged with impenetrable thickets.
Love "Women's Happiness"? Please put in the answer "Thumbs up"! Thank you, comrade!
