Step-by-step instructions on how to feed geraniums with Iodine in the winter. Gorgeous bloom Guaranteed
I like geranium because it gives a lush bloom in the summer in the flower bed, and in the winter in the house on the windowsill. But in order for the bloom to really please, to be lush and beautiful, you need to know some tricks.
This is especially true in winter time. During this period, you need to treat the plant as carefully as possible, to protect it from stress.
Here are the conditions I provide for my geraniums in winter:
· I put it on the windowsill on the south side. The place is bright there. It is very important for geraniums that daylight hours last at least 12 hours.
· I water geraniums less often in winter, at least less often compared to summer.
· I systematically carry out the trimming procedure.
· I try not to transplant geraniums during winter, so as not to injure the plant once again.
· Top dressing is carried out infrequently, only 2-3 times for the entire winter period.
I want to dwell on top dressing in more detail. More precisely, on one top dressing. I use it every winter. And geranium blooms, thanks to this remedy, very abundantly. In addition, the buds are very large. And the color of the geranium becomes bright and saturated.
And now I will tell you in detail how to properly prepare this wonderful feeding. This is done very simply. For cooking, you need clean water and a drop of iodine. Take 1 liter of water and dilute a drop of iodine in it. Mix the solution thoroughly. That's the whole recipe.
But you need to use the tool very carefully. Some amateur gardeners, out of inexperience, simply start watering geranium bushes with this solution. In this case, the solution instantly falls on the roots. And this can be detrimental to the plant. The roots will receive a severe burn.
To prevent this from happening, try to pour the fertilizer along the walls of the pot, while avoiding direct contact with the roots and leaves. If you nevertheless notice that drops of the product have fallen on parts of the plant, then gently wipe them with a soft cloth.
Before applying top dressing, I advise you to loosen the soil well and moisten it, also remove all wilted leaves and peduncles before the procedure.
For prevention, you can carry out such a procedure 2 times during the entire winter period. If you notice that your plant looks worse, the leaves become small and pale, and the buds do not appear at all, then this is a signal that it's time to use iodine-based feeding.
