Why life outside the city is better than in a cramped city apartment
How to move from city to country. Moving stories, what difficulties I had to face. On the pros and cons of suburban life. Our subscriber shared her story with us.
All my life I was eager to leave the village for the city. And only after living in the city I began to appreciate the suburban life, I saw all its advantages.
Let's start with the fact that I was born and raised in one and the villages of the Ivanovo region. Until the age of 16 she lived with her parents in an apartment, and spent the whole summer with her grandmother in a private house. I wanted to finish school faster and go to study in the city. And so it happened. And since the age of 16 I have been a city dweller. At first she huddled in a hostel, then rented an apartment and finally bought her own.
Having lived for 14 years in the city, I began to return more and more to the village, to my grandmother's house. Currently, I live in it all spring, summer and autumn. And only for the winter I leave back to the apartment. I work from home, so I don't have to ride to the city. I only go to water the flowers and check if everything is fine.
Now my husband and I have begun to make repairs in the house, slowly but surely things are progressing. In the house we have two rooms, a kitchen, an entrance hall, a cold corridor, a storage room, an outbuilding and a toilet. True, there is no shower cabin yet, but we will soon fix it. We also plan to make a room on the second floor. Gas heating, and water from a well.
The adjacent territory is quite large.
In front of the house, we have a large front garden, an embankment road, so that any car will stop by.
There are two garages, a sauna, a barn and a firewood room.
We also want to put a large gazebo and a regular barbecue. But this is all gradually.
Now I can highlight a number of advantages of living in a country house:
• Nature. Our house is located near the forest. At any time you can get on your bike and go for a walk, swim or pick mushrooms.
• If you have children, they will definitely like a house in a village or a village. All people know each other, you can let your child go for a walk and are not afraid that something will happen. In the courtyard, you can build a slide, sandpit and swing. The child will be delighted.
• There is where to put the car. You do not need to pay for a parking space, you can repair it in your garage and wash it at any time.
• In a country house you can have a great rest, grill a barbecue or smoke a fish. Sit in the gazebo and invite friends.
• Bathhouse. It's just something. Rest for body and soul. And a lot of benefits. And there is no need to go to paid saunas.
There are also minor disadvantages:
• Snow removal. The shovel is long and hard. But you can buy a snowblower and the problem will be solved.
• There is no decent job in the village, so suburban life is perfect for shift workers and freelancers.
• You always have to do something. The apartment has been renovated and forgotten. And in the house the fence is askew, then the roof is leaking. In general, not boring.
At the moment, it is very convenient and comfortable for me to live outside the city for most of the year, and to leave for the winter. But I think in a couple of years, as soon as we finish the renovation, we will move here for good.
What do you like more, city life or a house in the country?
