Quick-clamping nuts for grinders (angle grinder). Unscrews by hand and increases work safety

click fraud protection

Everyone who has used a grinder knows that it is possible to unscrew the nut on the angle grinder shaft for a long time if it is tightened during operation. To prevent the disc from jamming, place a spacer made of cardboard or thin plastic under the nut. Someone twists and unscrews the disc by hand, pressing the locking button of the gearbox.

But an even faster installation and removal of a cutting or other disc on an angle grinder can be done with the help of such a quick-locking nut:

The design of such a nut is called Fixtec. And the model shown in the photographs - Milwaukee 4932352473. The company also produces a similar nut for angle grinders at a similar price AEG. Number in their catalogs: 4932358225

Lift the bracket on the nut and tighten it by hand. When working with angle grinders, the nut itself is clamped to the required force. If the disc bites, the shaft of the angle grinder will rotate and the disc will not break and the grinder will not be pulled out of the hands. At most, there will be a push. The disc will rotate on the shaft due to the nut design. This process is shown in the video:

There are two holes on the nut body for a standard wrench for unscrewing this nut on the angle grinder (if the disk is still clamped). But he is unlikely to be needed. Fixtec quick-clamping nut prices:

This nut can be purchased hereor in Chinese online stores:

Quick-locking nut for angle grinders with a disc diameter of 115 mm and 125 mm. For shaft M14. For some reason, the price does not differ much from the sellers in ordinary stores. Even on aliexpress the prices are higher for 100-150 rubles.Link. The quality is difficult to assess here. But there is no doubt about the quality of the quick-locking nuts in packaging from the brands Milwaukee and AEG.

There are other quick-locking nuts for angle grinders. A design from Bosch called SDS-Clic:

Quick-locking nuts from Bosch and Hilti. Their cost - from 990 to 3700 rubles. The cost is great. And the design is simple: a washer, a cage and a spring system. How the nuts of the SDS-Clic system are arranged inside, you can see here:

The springs do not allow the disk to be clamped by the washer and in a certain jamming situation it can turn on the angle grinder shaft. Because the design is simple, then the cost should be clearly lower. Analogs are sold in China:

According to reviews, the quality is decent. The nut is not only quick-locking, but it also enhances safety like the Fixtec model. I would not specifically test how it works and let the disk jam. This is just a note. Alternative link on aliexpress

Who installed such quick-locking nuts - write in the comments. Are they worth the money spent on them? Increase security? Or is it possible in the old fashioned way to slightly tighten the standard nut on the grinder by turning the disc by hand?
