Which annuals I will definitely plant in the new year, and which ones I advise everyone to Forget

Annuals, in my opinion, are an indispensable attribute of any garden. Plants are unpretentious, have a long flowering period, with the correct selection of the collection, flower beds and mixborders are painted with colorful fireworks from May to September.

A nice bonus - I collect seeds from most annual flowers for planting next year.

Annuals that I plant annually

TOP 5 most popular colors that are known to everyone and do not need advertising:

Petunia is the undisputed queen of annuals, cascades of simple and double flowers are indispensable for planting in flowerpots and hanging pots;

· Marigolds are unpretentious, there are miniature and tall varieties;

· Asters - large flowers of various shades decorate the garden from July to frost;

· Annual dahlias are a great alternative to perennials, they eliminate the hassle of preserving tubers;

Zinnias - bright color of flowers, they stay on the bush for a long time and stand in the cut.

Annuals, which are not so common, but I plant them regularly. They are able to become a worthy decoration of a flower garden:

Phlox Drummond - short, lush bushes, so densely covered with flowers that the foliage is almost invisible. Inflorescences are two-colored, stellate, with an eye - all possible shades.

Kosmeya is an annual with openwork light green foliage and white, pink and scarlet daisies. Seeds can be sown once directly into the ground, in the future, the flower reproduces well by self-sowing.

Salvia - Flaming bright red cone-shaped inflorescences delight the eye from June to late September. Own seeds germinate well, the only drawback is that they have to be sown at the end of January.

Lobelia is a low-growing curb annual planted with a ribbon in the foreground. There are varieties of blue, pink and white. In my opinion, bright blue inflorescences look most advantageous in a mixed mixborder.

Annuals that I do not recommend planting

All flowers are beautiful in their own way, but with some I did not have a relationship, after planting they disappointed.

Matthiola - its outstanding flavor is emphasized in the seed package annotation. Small flowers of a faded purple color, open in the late afternoon, it was not possible to enjoy the scent to its fullest.

The annual cornflower is a tall plant, there are few flowers, wilted inflorescences look untidy. At the end of July, the bushes had to be removed so as not to spoil the general appearance of the flower beds.

Dimorphoteka - the flowers are unremarkable, at every opportunity (cloudy weather, evening time, rain) they close. The bush does not keep its shape, falling apart, takes on an unattractive appearance.

Nigella - flowers of a pleasant blue color and shape. But the bush itself is kind of flimsy, sparse needle-like leaves. The plant is not combined with other annuals and falls out of the general composition in the flower bed.
