January is the best time to breed conifers in your area.
Conifers are very popular with private house owners and this is understandable: they look great all year round.
Unlike berry bushes, conifers do not shed their outfit and delight us with juicy and bright greenery in the autumn-winter period, making the personal plot especially beautiful.
To decorate your site with as many conifers as possible, you can independently cultivate them. January is the best month for this. We will explain how to do this in this article.
Breeding rules for conifers:
In order for the cuttings to take root without problems, they should be taken only from plants that are at least five to nine years old.
You can, of course, use cuttings from younger plants, but the possibility of successful rooting in this case is significantly reduced.
What is the best cutting?
It's that simple! You will need a branch that is located in the third or fourth row, if you count from the bottom and it should be at least 12 cm.
It is necessary to tear off the branch without using a knife and in such a way that a "heel" remains on it, i.e. part of the bark from the trunk.
How is a heeld branch prepared for planting?
On the cuttings, the needles are removed by a third of the length and then the branches are soaked in the solution for 12 hours. (3 drops of "Epin": 100 ml of water).
The next stage is the rooting of the cuttings.
For rooting to be successful, you need to get the moss that can be found in the forest.
Then we take a black plastic bag, on which we spread damp moss and put the cuttings on it with the part that is free of needles.
We twist the bag with moss and cuttings into a roll and fasten it with a thread or elastic band.
After that, a transparent plastic bag is put on the handle to create a greenhouse effect.
We put such a simple structure in a cool place, where the cuttings will be for two to three months before the roots appear.
But do not forget to take out the rolls from the bag once a week and spray the twigs with water.
When the roots are strong enough, young plants can be planted in the ground.
