Installation of a second entrance door, what nuances are important to consider, independent work

The front door in my house is made of metal. Despite the fact that it is insulated, cold air penetrates into the corridor, there are drafts. To prevent heat loss, I decided to install a second entrance door from the inside of the house.

For these purposes, I chose the cheapest MDF door leaf, since later I plan to install high-quality woodwork. I bought it together with a box made of natural wood - pine. I will also change it later, for a design of a higher quality.

The process of installing the second entrance door included the following steps:

To work, I needed a tape measure, an electric drill, a building level, a milling cutter, a chisel, a screwdriver, a hammer drill, fasteners, a gun for polyurethane foam.

Before starting work, I prepared the doorway. I had to file bricks and a reinforced concrete lintel in several places so that the door could fit into the space provided for it.

After that, I assembled the door frame, since it was sold disassembled. By connecting the elements with each other, I got a frame that I had to install in the doorway.

After mounting the box, leveling it, I proceeded to blow out all the gaps formed with polyurethane foam using a special gun.

At the next stage, I started cutting in door handles, hinges, and installed a seal.

As soon as the polyurethane foam froze, I hung the canvas. Since I bought the cheapest door, I had to do a fit and cut so that it could close properly.

In the upper part, the resulting opening was closed with polystyrene foam, which will be putty in the future.

Before painting the door leaf, which I will spend outdoors in summer, I decided to prime it several times to ensure better adhesion of the surface to the paintwork.
