They say to me: "I put the windows incorrectly," although a year has passed. I tell you about all the reasons for my decisions.
After three years of self-construction, I realized that there are no universal solutions in any construction process. You always need to build on the situation. But someone thinks differently ...
Friends, I am glad to welcome you to my channel. When you expose the whole process of building a house for everyone to see, then of course you need to be prepared for various comments and advice. At the same time, many do not agree with the decisions that I make, and I think this is normal.
- Firstly, somewhere I really turn out to be wrong (although sometimes it is difficult to admit it π«).
- And somewhere, I understand that I give little information for an adequate assessment. No matter how hard you try, it is impossible to describe the nuances of the work to all the smallest details, and sometimes a lot depends on them.
But I will try ...
And today, I will analyze the installation of windows in my house.
Or rather, I would like to discuss those moments about which I most often read in the comments to my articles, and which someone considers gross mistakes.
β No quarters. This is the most popular topic π. I don't know why, but many consider it a must.
And here's what these quarters are for:
- Preventing blowing of the assembly seam (but not freezing in any way, as some believe).
- During installation, the window will not fall out ...
Well, that's all. But for the sake of this, I did not want to cut and then glue individual pieces of blocks. Or even worse, to cut everything right in the opening.
And all because in the future there will still be insulation of the facade from the outside, while the insulation will cope much better with the blowing and freezing of windows ...
β But at the same time, many do not like that the windows are on the edge of the wall. And the reasons for my decision are the same as in the previous paragraph.
With a wall thickness of 300 mm (like mine), it is simply stupid to move the window towards the room.
- External insulation and finishing will give the required indentation from the outside.
- And inside there will be a windowsill, normal size.
β Mounting plates are haunted too. That is what puts the windows on the anchors, and tries to shove this fastener where it is not needed. But from my own experience, I can say that small, standard windows also adhere perfectly to anchor plates.
Of course, in this case, there must be the required number, and the correct installation.
- But on the other hand, I didn't even have to remove the double-glazed windows (I just threw off the sash and that's it).
- At the same time, the integrity of the frame is preserved, which can affect its normal operation and service life.
Thus, the windows have been standing for a year.
Of course, this is not an indicator, but still there were no problems ...
Well, in addition to the fact that the support profile froze in winter. But this is normal for 3 cm of non-insulated plastic. The problem was temporarily resolved with 20 mm EPS outside.
And when it is insulated and the facade is finished, it will be even better.
So friends, their own construction site - their own rules. Moreover, this is not a violation of technology, but small corrections for the situation.
β By the way, here is a video about the whole process of installing windows in my house.
subscribe to the channel, and like it π. I will not ask for comments, you already know that this is important π...
