Required tools and materials

The method is intended for boards and bars that will be varnished. It is in this case that it is important to preserve the wood pattern so that the attachment point does not stand out.

To mask the fasteners you will need:

• hammer and chisel;
• screwdriver / drill, wood drills, countersink;
• PVA glue or any other specialized wood glue;
• clamp or hold-down device;
• sandpaper.

What should be done

In the place where the screw will be located, it is necessary to remove with a chisel a small strip of wood with a thickness of about 2 mm, width across the thickness of the chisel, no more than 30 mm long. One edge of this strip should remain integral with the wood surface.

Next, you need to bend the strip, drill and countersink the hole, screw in the screw. The next step is to grease the strip from the side of the board and the groove with glue, and press. This can be done in any convenient way: with a clamp or put a burden. It is better to put a small board on top of the place to be glued, and then provide the clamping force.

When the glue dries, all that remains is to hide the unevenness with sandpaper and the surface can be varnished. Using this method will help to visually preserve the integrity of the tree pattern and hide the fastener caps as carefully as possible.
