Manufacturing of a sliding table for an armchair or sofa.
Greetings.
My wife asked me to make a compact table for a laptop.
I got the design of this table from the Canadian blogger Matthias Wandel. Of course, I made the dimensions for myself, but the main idea was preserved.
In its manufacture, it turned out to use almost all of my instrument.
First, I prepared blanks for the base on a planer-thicknessing machine.
Sawed them to size and made bevels on the horizontal parts using a band saw.
Also, on a band saw, I dismissed a couple of blanks for making a tabletop.
I stitched these blanks up to 20 mm using a thicknesser. and glued into a shield on a smooth fugue.
I assembled the legs at the table in the form of the letter "P" on a spike connection. I used a circular saw attachment.
More details about the manufacture of this connection can be found in this article.
After gluing the legs, I sanded them. Then I chamfered it with an edge router.
To attach the tabletop to the legs, I glued small strips in which I made oval holes with the same router, so that when the tabletop was screwed on, the connection would be free. (Scroll through the gallery)
On the back of the legs I made a selection for the rollers. It was possible to do without it, but the videos turned out to be bought a little higher than necessary.
I decided to connect the frame of the table for confirmations, and since the legs are 40 mm thick, I decided to drown the confirmations in them by about 2/3. And to close the holes of the fasteners, I made plugs. (Scroll through the gallery)
The table was covered with Belinka oil in two layers.
And after the oil had dried, I assembled the table.
The table turned out to be quite comfortable, it rolls well not only to the chair, but also to the sofa and bed.
More details on the manufacturing sequence can be found in the video clip.
