How to apply polyurethane foam to hard-to-reach places: construction trick

When working with polyurethane foam, one thing must be taken into account: the cylinder must be upside down. Otherwise, gas will escape from it, and the reagents will remain inside. But sometimes it is necessary to foam places where the cylinder cannot be held in the correct working position; or the tube simply does not reach there. What to do in this case - read on.

"Extension" for foam

To supply foam to hard-to-reach places, it is necessary to make a kind of extension cord.

To make it you will need:

• a rail or a piece of plastic pipe (select the length so that it is enough to the place of foaming);
• polymer hose (for example, which is used to drain water from the heating system);
• scotch tape or electrical tape.

Slide one end of the hose over the cylinder outlet tube. The other end must be attached with tape or tape to the end of the rail. The hose should be fixed so that the tip protrudes 4–6 centimeters. This is necessary so that you can conveniently direct the flow of foam to the desired location. And it will also help not to get your hands dirty while working.

The foam extension is ready, you can use it!

Next, you need to bring the end of the tube to the place of foaming and press the outlet valve. Such a simple device will allow you to reach any cracks and at the same time keep the cylinder in the working position.

How to save a fixture

In order for the foam “extension” to be used several times, after use it must be cleaned of foam residues. To do this, draw 20 acetone cubes into the syringe and drive them through the hose. Repeat the procedure two or three times until the hose cavity is completely cleared of the polyurethane foam.
