Summer flowers that our Grandmothers loved to grow. I advise everyone to plant them
All my childhood memories are associated with the summer holidays spent with my grandmother in the village. I still remember her front garden with an incredible amount of flowers.
Unfortunately, many of them have been forgotten in vain today. A few years ago, I decided to recreate a parody of my grandmother's flower garden and planted several flowering crops that are not as whimsical as modern plants.
Stock-rose
In the old days, mallow adorned almost every garden plot. A tall plant reaching 3 meters in height is distinguished by its unpretentiousness, since it does not require any additional conditions when growing.
I am pleased with the duration of flowering and a riot of colors, the buds have a varied palette, I have a stock-rose:
· Yellow;
· White;
Light pink;
· Purple.
Flowers look very beautiful in the overall composition. They can be seated around a gazebo or residential building.
Day-lily
Another beauty forgotten by flower growers is growing in my front garden, she is also known as krasodnev.
This plant has a peculiarity, it blooms for only one day, after which the bud withers, but due to their large number, a kind of change occurs. Thanks to this turnover, it seems that the daylily always blooms.
Perennial is not picky about the conditions of detention, it can grow in one place for about ten years. Both sunny areas and those where partial shade prevails are suitable for the plant.
Dahlias
A distinctive feature of this blooming culture is the luxurious buds that attract the increased attention of passers-by. Plants are unpretentious, so it is convenient to grow them in summer cottages, around the house.
My representatives grow near the fence, where partial shade always reigns, but, nevertheless, they bloom every year. But the level of humidity will have to be monitored, since an excess of water causes rotting of the roots, and this leads to their death.
I deal with this problem with the help of drainage, I have laid a good layer of expanded clay in the flower garden.
Iris
In the past, one of the most popular flowers, most often Soviet citizens preferred bearded irises. This variety has a characteristic feature - a strip of hairs on the outside of the perianth.
There are other types:
Dutch
· Swamp;
· Siberian.
My flowers grow in flowerbeds near the house, the aroma literally envelops me when I leave the house. But it should be borne in mind that these plants need bright light, without it they will not bloom as abundantly as mine.
Phlox
Today, these flowers are rarely found in flower beds, although earlier not a single flower garden could do without phlox. They were loved for their bright and lush bloom, which could last almost the entire season, moreover, this required a minimum of effort.
It was quite enough to periodically water the plants, fertilize with an organic complex in the spring, and with the onset of autumn pruning by a third of the height.
Summer flowers that our grandmothers were happy to grow are very simple, but amazingly beautiful. You can create unique compositions from them, my flower garden is a confirmation of this.
I am very proud of him, and the neighbors envy my blooming plot, pleasing to the eye with a riot of colors.
