Elon Musk's StarShip SN 9 failed landing again
Through the efforts of the company I. Mask Spacex the second tests of the prototype of the space unit were carried out "Starshp". So 02.02.2021 The SN 9 test spacecraft successfully lifted off the ground at a private launch site in Texas, and just as safely performed a cascade of planned airspace maneuvers.
Only when trying to return it back to the site, the ship again began to gain speed and crashed on the launch pad when trying to land.
Another problems when landing
It is worth noting that previous tests of the SN 8 prototype, which were carried out in December 2020, during which the ship also successfully climbed to an altitude of 12.5 km and after a series of somersaults crashed while trying to land on platform.
According to the company representatives, that time, malfunctions in one of the engines did not allow to make a soft landing. As a result, the ship was unable to extinguish its speed, and as a result of hard contact, it exploded and burned up.
Otherwise, that flight went like clockwork and allowed the company's engineers to collect a huge amount of valuable data.
As it turned out, the second tests of the SN 9 were carried out in a similar scenario. A successful start was made, no less successful somersaults at a height, only when descending again problems arose. So, according to the flight plan, after a series of somersaults at an altitude of 10 km, the engines on the test ship should have been turned on again.
The problem began with the second engine, which simply did not start, and again during a hard landing, the SN 9 crashed on landing. In total, the flight lasted eight and a half minutes.
A representative of the SpaceX company commented on the incident during the broadcast:
“There was another great flight. We just need to do a little more work on the landing. "
What is Elon Musk's goal in development Starship
The goal of the entire mission, and in particular of the test data, is to create a working and fully accessible technology, with the help of which it will be possible to make manned flights to other planets. In particular, the first planet to which ships will go Starship with a crew on board, and subsequently colonize Mars.
Of course, the plans are ambitious and at first glance seem impracticable, but in the same way they talked about the fact that SpaceX will not be able to create a space transport for the delivery of astronauts to ISS. So let's be patient. And I am sure that soon we will hear about the first successful manned flight to Mars.
