The creation of an attic in the attic roof: what was the result, and was it worth it to bring my idea to life
When developing a project for a truss system, I focused on two points. The first is the price, due to the high cost of materials and the limited family budget, I considered the most affordable models. Second, it was important for me to make the entire under-roof space as functional as possible. As a result, I decided to make an attic in the attic floor, the area of which allows me to equip a spacious recreation room there.
Before the construction of the rafter system, he processed all the wood with special compounds that prevent rotting. To overlap the attic floor, I used beams, which I placed at a distance of about 1.5 m from each other. He insulated the floor area with mineral wool, laying it in all formed cavities, having previously installed a vapor barrier around the entire perimeter of the floors.
When facing the pediment, he refused moisture-resistant plywood, instead using aerated concrete blocks. As a result, I got a thick wall (40 cm), insulated from the outside with foam (10 cm). Thanks to this solution, in the attic, even in winter, it is maintained quite acceptable for people. temperature regime (despite the absence of batteries, the heat penetrating from the lower floors turned out to be enough).
As a result, I got a rectangular attic room, the width of which is 3.6 m, the height reaches 2 m 25 cm. The length of the room was 11m.
All dimensions will be slightly adjusted as I started to decorate the attic. I decided to use the OSB-plate as the main material, with which I will sheathe the walls, the ceiling and the floor area. At the final stage, the panels will be varnished.
