Do not rush to throw away the old curtain rods, if the fasteners are broken - we bought new ones, the same color, only made of plastic
After moving to a newly built country house from a city apartment, it was the turn to decorate all the rooms. Of course, curtains are one of the most important decorative elements. They carry not only a decorative, but also a completely practical function - to protect the privacy of the owners from prying glances through the windows.
Everyone understands that when you move to a new house you want everything new and beautiful, but there is a sorely lack of money for this. Therefore, we decided to use the things that were well preserved in the apartment. For example, curtain rods. We had quite high quality classic curtain rods with wooden rings on the pipe, which are equipped with hooks for attaching to the tape.
But when they began to remove these cornices, it turned out that their fastenings, made of wood, cracked and broke.
The husband had already repaired them, put them on glue, but now the repair is no longer possible. It was a real disappointment! After all, we bought new curtains on a tape to which hooks would be attached and you could hang them on the old cornices.
"Now, of course, we are unlikely to find such fasteners" - we thought. Moreover, those that match the color of the crossbars.
But we were completely upset in vain. Arriving in Castorama, where for three years we have been regular buyers of building materials and finishes, we asked the consultant if there were such fasteners on sale?
And he calmly sent us to the appropriate row, saying that the mounts are in the bottom row, only they are not wooden, but plastic. We went there doubtfully. Indeed, we found just such fasteners in two colors - wenge, as we needed. And the second color is walnut, we also have such a cornice. They cost only 85 rubles per pair. We took both. Because we think that we also use the light cornice.
After replacing the mount, no differences that were striking were found. Everything turned out as if - it was.
Plastic fasteners, of course, are much stronger than old wooden ones. I think that cornices that are at least 15 years old will last as long.
