How to clean metal spatulas from putty and glue: extending the life of the tool

Spatulas have such a feature - to get dirty. When layers of putty and glue accumulate on this tool, there are two ways out: to beat off or wash off the dried solution. What is necessary

For the procedure you will need: 100 grams of acetic acid (essence 70%); a bucket of cold water; container for spatulas; day of free time. The procedure is not fast, but of high quality. This is usually done after the completion of work on the site.

To clean the spatulas, select a convenient container with a wide bottom and fold the tool in a horizontal position. If the spatulas have plastic hollow or wooden handles, press down with something heavy. These handles will float up and the instrument will not be completely submerged in the solution.

Next, dilute one hundred grams of vinegar in 8 liters of water and fill with a spatula. The water must completely cover the instrument.

After one day, remove the spatula and remove the softened putty from them with a rag or soft brush. After the "vinegar bath", the dirt will easily go away, and the spatula will shine like new!

Another way

If you don't have vinegar on hand (which is unlikely), you can use citric acid powder. The method is also effective.

To do this, you need to dissolve 150-200 grams of citric acid in 6-8 liters of hot water and fill the tool with this solution. After a day, the remnants of dry putty and glue will also be easily cleaned from it.
