Processing with Bordeaux mixture

After the snow melts, as soon as the earth dries up, you need to start taking care of the strawberries. The bushes should be sprayed with Bordeaux mixture, which will stop and prevent the development of various diseases.

Removing last year's leaves, loosening, adding soil

All dry, last year's and diseased leaves must be cut and removed from the site (burned). They need to be cut off, and not pulled out, otherwise the outlet, roots and growth point (heart) can be damaged. All weeds should also be weeded out.

Bare roots must be covered with earth, but you need to look so that the core does not go deep. The soil around the bush should be loosened.

Top dressing

A furrow can be made around the bush and spilled with warm water. Wait until water is absorbed. Then you need to sprinkle the groove with a little ash. To build up the green mass, you need to use nitrogen fertilizers.

You can take chicken manure in granules, dilute it in water, or spill the bushes with ammonia (2 tablespoons per bucket of water). The latter will also scare away pests. Pour 1.5-2 liters of solution under each bush.

For strawberries, you can also use special fertilizers that are sold in horticultural centers. For example, take a look at Gumi Omi. It can be dissolved in 10 liters of water in the amount of 6 tablespoons.

After 2 weeks, the strawberry bushes need to be fed with double superphosphate. This fertilizer will make it possible to lay flower clusters, the foundation of the future harvest. As a result, the berries will be sweet and juicy.

You will need 1 kg of double superphosphate for 5 liters of hot water. During the day, the solution must be stirred, because the fertilizer dissolves in water for a long time. After that, the liquid should be brought to 10 liters of water. This will make the masterbatch. Then you need to dilute 1 liter of solution in 10 liters of water.

Mulching

After feeding, it is advisable to mulch the strawberries. For this, it is recommended to use straw, coniferous litter. Of course, timely watering must be done during the season. Strawberries are drought-resistant.
