Do not throw away the remains of drywall! We tell you how to make a decorative brick from gypsum plasterboard

Now the loft style is gaining more and more popularity. But since this design technique is quite costly to implement, it is better to do the work yourself. We will tell you how to make decorative bricks for interior decoration from drywall residues.

Cooking bricks

From the remains of the gypsum board, cut tiles to the size of the side wall of a standard brick (250 * 88 mm) or any other suitable size. This is most conveniently done with an assembly knife, a ruler and a marker. Pre-apply the markings on the sheet, and already cut the drywall along it.

Installation

After the required number of bricks is ready, glue them to the wall. You can mount drywall on tile glue, plaster, putty or glue-foam for gypsum board. The choice of adhesive depends on the wall on which the tiles will be mounted.

Relief

When the adhesive is completely dry, start decorating the surface, namely, give the plasterboard tiles the look of an old brick. To do this, first cut off the bevels of the tiles with a knife. The edges of the bricks should be uneven, looking like scuffs and chips.

Then, using a spatula and a metal brush, remove the cardboard from the tiles. After this procedure, give the surface relief. Do this with the same metal bristle brush or coarse sandpaper. You can make holes in the bricks with a screwdriver. By these actions, it is necessary to achieve a surface similar to an old brick wall.

The surface relief can also be given with decorative plaster or embossed paint. The method is very time consuming, but the effect will surpass all expectations - the decorative brick will be indistinguishable from the real one!

Painting

The relief is ready - start painting. Pick a paint background color you like (for example, red) and cover the wall with it. This can be done with a brush, roller or with a spray gun. Be sure to prime the surface before painting!

Next, apply translucent shades to the wall, which will give the effect of aging. For example, a red wall can be decorated with black, white / yellow colors. This is done with an ordinary sponge, which must be dipped in paint, squeezed well and easily held along the wall. The procedure is reminiscent of dusting off.

Seams

When the paint dries, you need to imitate the seams, namely, fill them with ordinary tile glue. Smoothly and accurately this can be done with a special grout bag. Seams can be painted with gray paint.
