3 Useful insects for the garden and personal plot, with which many Summer residents are fighting, but in vain
Of course, I, like many of you, start to frown at the word "insect." After all, small creatures immediately come to mind, which squeak unpleasantly, bite and destroy the crop.
But since I am a summer resident with experience, I want to warn you: not all insects are harmful. Some, on the contrary, benefit the summer cottage. Therefore, do not rush to exterminate them.
Top 3 beneficial insects
· ladybugs. Well, who does not know these bright representatives of the insect world. But few know that they are useful. Ladybugs help in the fight against many pests. These include both aphids, scale insects, copperheads.
Moreover, small baby ladybugs eat aphids much more than adults. Each individual helps to get rid of at least several dozen harmful individuals in a day.
Based on this, we can conclude that the ladybug should be bred on the site, and not destroyed. This is especially important for flower beds and gardens. After all, aphids often encroach on fruit trees and flowering plants. Waking up in early spring, ladybugs work throughout the season.
And so that they stay for the winter on your site, prepare houses for them. Lay out small shelters for ladybirds in the corners of the site, and they will definitely settle there.
· Trichograms. It is the larvae of this insect that bring benefits. They destroy the eggs of insects harmful to the garden. Therefore, if trichograms are present on your site, then they will save you from the offspring of such dangerous pests, such as cabbage whites, sawflies, moths, meadow moths, various representatives lepidoptera.
Interestingly, these beneficial insects can even be purchased from laboratories that grow them. And these efforts will not be in vain. Just one insect can rid your area of thousands of pest larvae.
· Hedgehog. The larvae of this insect are of great benefit. They become a formidable weapon in pest control. The hedgehog larvae eat leafworms, sawflies, silkworms, Colorado beetles and many others.
There are several types of hedgehogs. And depending on the characteristics of the species, they hunt in different ways. Some larvae themselves hunt, and some are helped by adults.
Since there are many beneficial insects, I am in no hurry to use pesticides for pest control. Insects, human helpers, do an excellent job with them.
