Permanent dust and bacteria in the air
It is known from physics lessons that warm air always goes up, that is, it rises. And underfloor heating heats air masses, which, as they rise, set in motion dust and various bacteria from the floor covering. Therefore, the air will always contain fine dust and harmful microorganisms. Underfloor heating requires perfect cleanliness in the house.
Ceramic tiles are ideal for underfloor heating
The most suitable underfloor heating flooring is ceramic tiles. It has good heat transfer and is less susceptible to heat degradation and thermal deformation. But this stuff is very slippery; and also not in all rooms you want to see a shiny floor, like in a bathroom.
If you lay parquet, laminate or cork, then, firstly, you need to select a special expensive coating; and secondly, due to regular temperature changes, these materials will not last long anyway. Low-cost floor coverings can warp when heated or release harmful substances into the air. And you also need to take into account the thermal effect on furniture that will stand on a warm floor.
Difficulty adjusting temperature
The level of heating of the floor surface is rather difficult to regulate, especially if the covering is not ceramic tiles, but, for example, laminate or parquet. These materials have low heat transfer and this will inevitably lead to deterioration of the coating, if high efficiency is achieved from the warm floor. It is not recommended to heat laminate and parquet above +29 ° C. Underfloor heating is, after all, an element of comfort, and not the main heating.
The height of the room will decrease
Installing a warm floor will steal 7-9 centimeters from the height of the room. This should be taken into account when planning a construction or renovation. The room will decrease especially strongly if, in addition to the warm floor, there will also be a stretch ceiling.
