Why Do I Throw Out Hyacinth Bulbs After They Fade
Greetings, ladies!
Hyacinths have already become something of a must by March 8, not just popular. Now everyone has hyacinths at home for the women's holiday. And on the Internet there was a sea of publications with advice on how to multiply them from what was bought in the store and how to save, and then distill next spring and again enjoy the aroma.
But I've also tried to store it for a couple of years already, try to prepare it for distillation according to all the rules, and so on. But I made conclusions from a heap of big drawbacks from home attempts at breeding hyacinths that this is not all worth the candle. Now I throw out the bulbs as soon as they bloom. And next year you can buy more, they cost mere pennies!
I will give strong reasons that there is no point in leaving them.
Between the lines, let me provide 3 links to other recipes from my feed:

My first reason –
conditions for preparation for storage. Hyacinths belong to the category of flowers that require special conditions for variable temperatures. First, the bulbs must be dug out and allowed to lie peeled to completely dry the husks at a temperature of about 22-28 degrees.
After 2-3 weeks, you need to lower the temperature to 10-15 degrees. And then after another couple of weeks up to 8 degrees. Here I will stop and ask the question - how many of you have such opportunities to provide a different temperature regime around the clock? I think no one.
It is better to let it be produced by special enterprises for the breeding and reproduction of plants.
Second compelling argument - storage.
Forgive me, but to make a place for them in the refrigerator for a whole year, who benefits from it? There is not enough space for products in it. Okay, I have a cellar, but you can't track the storage temperature at +3. In cold winters, it can drop to 0, and in warm winters, it rises to +10, as in the last abnormally warm year. And then the hyacinths begin to sprout in December or January. And not pretty flowers are obtained from them.
And the third reason.
Hyacinth blooms with a luxurious bouquet only in the first year. With each subsequent year, flowering will not be able to please you so much. Then you can bother with storage and transplants just for the sake of children. But is it worth it?
And my very last, very weighty reason - how much does your labor cost per year to care for hyacinths? Have you thought about this? In the store, hyacinths cost 60 rubles. Can it be easier to buy? That's what I thought and threw out all the bulbs after the flowers dried up last year, and this year I will do the same.
