Why is there rubble on my blind area instead of concrete? The advantages of such a choice that you don't immediately think about.
As they say, concrete is always powerful and solid. But these characteristics are not always an advantage ...
Friends, I am glad to welcome you. In one of my recent articles, I wrote about how the insulated blind area around my house overwintered.
And from the comments it became clear that not everyone understands my choice in favor of crushed stone (as the final top layer), when many pour everything with concrete, or lay it out with tiles.
And here are the reasons that you may not have thought about.
β Very easy to do. All the rubble was transported to the blind area by my mother, who is 62 years old. Little by little, but the job is done. And I think there is nothing easier.
At my construction site, I have already carried out concrete work more than once, so there is something to compare with.
β Mobility of the structure. It is in the blind area that this is an advantage, and a necessity, in order to transfer seasonal soil movements under the blind area. And crushed stone is a very mobile layer, which at the same time looks like a single whole.
There is no point in talking about how concrete blind areas are cracking, I think most of them had to observe it. And even if you do not fill in a continuous layer, but make expansion joints, there is a chance to get a "dancing blind area".
And yes, by the way, I'm not going to walk on this rubble. The width of my blind area is about 70-80 cm, and it will only perform its direct duties. And I plan to lay the paths nearby.
So the rubble will not be carried out "on the feet" ...
β Nice, unusual appearance. This is of course a matter of taste, but even now, this option seems very nice to me. And when, more or less, I bring the landscape around the house to a normal view, it will be even better.
β Moreover, there is always the possibility of alteration or revision.
Crushed stone (in addition to direct use as a decorative layer) is also a good base for the same paving slabs. Do not like it, took it and redid everything, no difficulties.
And over time, I like this option more and more.
Especially when the whole structure survived its first winter, and nothing happened to it, I was once again convinced of the correctness of my choice.
Friends, I am waiting for your opinion and advice in the comments.
