Over the years in older people, of course, the gastrointestinal tract weakens. This cannot be denied, but even this reason should not be the reason for taking laxatives on an ongoing basis. It's best to know what products can help keep you in good health. Let's talk about this, I will share my experience of what foods I include in my daily diet.

There are no special problems in the season of fresh vegetables and fruits. Most often, constipation begins to suffer outside the summer season, when store vegetables are either too expensive or tasteless. But there are those foods that are tasty and you need to eat them quite a bit in order to maintain the normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. Most importantly, there is such #food not that expensive.

The first on my list is prunes. In addition to a very mild and pronounced laxative effect, this product is also very useful for elderly people with atherosclerosis, high blood pressure. Prunes improve the functioning of not only the gastrointestinal tract, but also the cardiovascular system by being rich in potassium. And in combination with vitamin A, it also helps to maintain eyesight for older people.

The next product is flax seeds. This is a real treasure for me, which not every product can boast of. And from the composition, look at what wealth (percent written from the daily. norms in 100 g):

Any vegetable oils, even the cheapest sunflower or other oils, can give "relief" to your intestines. It is enough, instead of sour cream, to fill the salad at least once a day with two tablespoons of any of your favorite vegetable oils.

Beet. This vegetable was born as a cleaner for the whole body and for all organs. It will help the intestines and improve the blood composition. What is surprising for me personally is that, in my opinion, beets are the only product that is equally useful in any form: boiled, cheese, in the form of juice or borscht. Absolutely does not lose its properties. For the elderly, this product is extremely important for lipid metabolism, maintaining normal cholesterol levels, for removing excess fluid, for removing fats from liver cells. Beets are also effective in the prevention of atherosclerosis.
