Why do many people lay two layers of EPSP, 50 mm each, instead of one 100 mm? I did it according to the second option, and did not regret it.
At first glance, there is no difference at all, but in fact, when choosing and working, nuances appear.
Friends, hello everyone! The insulation of my slab foundation continues, from the inside of the house. And after all the preparatory work, you can go directly to the insulation.
Read the entire background on my channel.
I decided on the thickness right away, and decided to insulate it with a layer of EPS of 100 mm.
Although there were some disagreements here too.
As well as about all the work on the construction of my house, I looked at information on the floor insulation on the Internet. And for some reason, in most of the examples that I came across, the insulation was carried out in two layers of 50 + 50 mm.
And the main argument for this choice is overlapping of joints between sheets of EPSP.
The idea is correct, but I decided to do everything differently.
And I bought sheets of insulation 100 mm thick to do everything in one layer.
And that's why:
β The speed of work is halved. And not only because it is one layer, not two. Added to this are the unevenness of my concrete floor (I wrote about them in previous articles).
And here it is easier to lay one layer of 100 mm than first somehow pressing 50 mm to the irregularities, and then another 50 mm on top, also on a curved surface ...
β The issue with seams is also being resolved. As well as on slabs of 50 mm and 100 mm, there are steps along the edges, which are just intended to cover the "cold bridges".
It is possible to cover the seam with a whole sheet on top and more reliable, but too much for me... Of course, not all joints converge perfectly, but steps of 20 mm are definitely enough, especially since there is polyurethane foam for insurance.
β Well, the benefit in the price.
I'm not saying that this is always the case, but at the time of my purchase, sheets of 100 mm were cheaper than 2x50. And this put the final point in my choice!
What do you think on this issue? Write your opinion in the comments, it's interesting to know. Maybe I didn't take into account something ???
