How to unclog a sewer: a simple and effective way

What is needed for this

For effective cleaning of sewer pipes from grease, food debris, hair and other organic contaminants, only caustic soda is needed. It is also called sodium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide.

This reagent is dispensed in bags and in bulk. The cost in different regions is different, but varies from 1,500 to 2,500 rubles per bag weighing 25 kilograms. Sodium hydroxide in bulk costs from 100 to 200 rubles per kilogram.

Important!

When working with the reagent, be sure to use protective equipment: rubber gloves, glasses, an apron! Do not inhale solution vapors while mixing caustic soda with water! To prepare the solution, use only containers for technical needs. After use, thoroughly wash the container from the remaining solution.

How to use

There are several ways to use sodium hydroxide for each sewer site.

Blockage in the sink

Here, the clogging usually creates grease and food debris. For cleaning, you need to boil half a bucket of water, stir 1 kilogram of caustic soda in it and pour it into the sink. The water will stand at first, but then, as it erodes the blockage, it will quickly leave.

After that, it is necessary to flush the sewer with hot water - pour out one bucket, and then rinse for 10 minutes with running cold water from the tap.

Sodium hydroxide is called caustic for a reason. If not rinsed thoroughly, it will damage the pipes!

Sink and bathroom

1 way

Dissolve 2 kilograms of sodium hydroxide in four liters of hot water. Pour into the drain hole, wait two to three hours. Then thoroughly rinse the sewer pipes, first with hot water, and then, within 10 minutes, with running cold water.

2 way

Pour 250 grams of caustic into the pipe and pour two liters of hot water. After 15 minutes, pour in another 2 liters of water. Wait until the blockage is removed and also flush the sewer pipes.

For toilet

Dilute 3 kilograms of caustic soda into five liters of cold water. Pour half of the mortar directly into the drain pipe. After three hours, fill in the rest of the solution. Wait three hours and rinse the pipe thoroughly with plenty of cold water.

Prophylaxis

If the water started to leave poorly, be sure to carry out prevention. Dissolve 500 grams of sodium hydroxide in two liters of cold water, slowly pour it down the drain and after 2 hours rinse the pipes thoroughly.
