I talked to the seller at the plumbing store. He gave advice on how to choose a good sink for your kitchen!
Repair, flour of choice, arrangement - all this is a little exhausting! After all, you need to find the best and most beautiful at the cheapest price!
The task before me was: choose a sink and faucet for the kitchen. My wife and I decided on the size and shape. But the material and quality remained in question. We chose between stainless steel and artificial stone. But they leaned more towards the stone.
Naturally, I previously studied the feedback from people. And some of them got me thinking. Several people have reported that stainless steel sinks began to rust within a year! And on stone sinks, wet dishes leave traces that cannot be washed off!
I asked a lot of questions to managers in stores. But no one could clearly answer them to me. Either the sellers were not motivated, or they were not competent ...
- Do you have kitchen baths?
- Will you wash while you cook?
This is how a dialogue began with a consultant in a plumbing store.
. A hint of humor and a pleasant attitude defused my tension. As a result, the conversation turned out to be as fruitful as possible! I share with you!The main question I had was this:
- How to choose a sink in a store so as not to run into a fake or poor quality? Visually, is it always possible to distinguish good from bad?
Here's what the shop assistant replied to me:
- I'll start by saying: do not rush to shop at construction markets and unknown stores! After all, it is there that the highest chance of running into a fake is there. It is best to purchase plumbing fixtures from dealers and large stores. Check the warranty. It must be at least 3-5 years old.
The most popular now are stainless steel and artificial stone sinks. Both have their pluses and minuses.
Secretly: I personally am a fan of stone sinks. Yes, they are more expensive, but they are the most practical and varied. Compared to stone, stainless steel is noisier, and over time, small scratches will appear on it. Stone sinks, on the other hand, do not make noise with a strong stream of water, they are not scratched and they are easy to clean.
Tips from an experienced consultant: How to choose a quality artificial stone sink?
- Artificial stone is natural stone chips mixed with plasticizers. Everything is simple here - the more stone in the composition, the higher the quality. Choose a sink with at least 80% stone.
- Poor thin packaging without identification marks is a sign of counterfeiting or poor product quality. Original manufacturers use thick cardboard with stiffening ribs for packing stone shells. it is important to ensure the safety of the product during transportation. The name and logo of the manufacturer must be written on the box. A holographic sticker is often present.
- Incorrect shell geometry. Original manufacturers produce symmetrical washbasins with exactly the same dimensions. Take measurements with a tape measure. Pay attention to the appearance of the sink, the uniformity of the surface. And make sure the wall thickness is at least 9-10mm.
