How to drill a hole in concrete without a special drill: a life hack from builders
It so happens that you need to hang a shelf, a picture or a chandelier, and you don't have a punch or specialized drills for concrete at hand. What to do in this case? It's very simple: you need to replace the drill with three regular nails. How to do it - read on. Don't forget to like and subscribe to the channel - we publish useful content!
How to use nails
You need to pick up three identical nails and bite off their caps with pliers. Next, insert into the chuck, clamp well and drill. You don't need to press hard on the drill - the nails will do it themselves! The tips will scratch the material as they rotate. This creates a hole.
This simple method is suitable for both brick and concrete drilling. You won't be able to drill this way on an industrial scale, but you can scratch a couple of holes under the wall cabinet. The fact is that nails quickly become dull on hard material.
Option two: self-tapping screws
Long screws / screws can be used in a similar way. They also need to bite off the cap and fix it in the chuck in the same way as nails. These fasteners as a drill will last a little longer than nails. Firstly, they are sharper, and secondly, the metal is harder.
If you use these methods, then take short breaks during work so that the metal does not overheat. All this, of course, in the most extreme case, if there is nowhere to take a drill for concrete or a perforator, but it is very necessary to make a hole.
Life hack in the appendix: how to drill a large hole in a tree with small drills
If you don't have a large wood drill at hand, you can use three small ones. The rule of a bundle of three elements also applies here. Only in this case, three drills should be included in the bundle. Tie down the drills with wire for greater reliability.
And also in the absence of the necessary drill for wood, you can make its analogue from an ordinary nail. It is enough to cut off the head of the nail, and flatten the tip with a hammer, giving it the shape of a petal. The edges of the petal determine the diameter of the improvised drill. Next, you need to sharpen the edges and you can use it!
