Want a country house? Do not hurry! I will honestly tell you what you have to face
Every opinion has the right to be heard. We actively promote country life, but we respect and also often publish the opposite point of view. A member of our portal, Alexander, told how he was not satisfied with life in a country house.
Why did you move from the city
Several years ago we decided it was time to move out of town. The pension is not far off, the children have grown up and the city is no longer holding on to anything. And where else can you meet old age so well and happily, if not in your own country house?
Resolved - done! They sold the apartment and bought a house 12 kilometers from the city limits. House area - 85 sq. meters, gas heating (double-circuit wall boiler), water from a well, drain into a pit. A plot of 10 acres. A kilometer from the house there is a picturesque forest and a river. The beauty!
What does not suit
In suburban life, as elsewhere, there are pluses and minuses. The pros are already well known to everyone. I, only relying on my experience, will list the obvious shortcomings.
Well water
Well water is very hard. We thought well water was the most useful, but it turned out to be far from so. It tastes nasty, salty; scale is formed from it instantly. In general, we drink purchased water, and this costs 1.5-2 thousand per month.
After six months of operation, the new boiler made a noise like an airplane from this scale. Mixers also clog up quickly - the pressure dropped noticeably, and as it was dismantled, lime fell from there. I am afraid that the washer, dishwasher and boiler will not last long on such water.
Sewerage
Most of the country houses do not have a central sewage system and never will. For example, we have a pit made of concrete rings, which must be regularly pumped out. I call the flusher two or three times a month. The whole "beauty" is that you have to pump not only your own waste, but also groundwater. And it costs money: 1.5-2.2 thousand rubles a month. Here, inevitably, you start to get nervous when your wife gets a full bath.
Remoteness of everything
The main disadvantage: remoteness from shops, markets, clinics and all attributes of urban civilization. You had to buy something - you have to go; called an ambulance - wait a very long time. Once my wife's temperature jumped, so they waited for an ambulance for two hours, which wandered around the neighborhood in search of a home. They have a confusion with the new streets. This is not only inconvenient, but also dangerous if the person is dependent on emergency medical care.
Fuel costs have increased exponentially. You have to operate the car more and, accordingly, you have to pay more for fuel and maintenance. To reduce costs, I even switched the car to gas. And now you have to repair the car on the little things yourself. Savings on everything!
Additional work
If you expect only heavenly rest from the country life, then do not rush to indulge yourself with illusions. There is a lot of hassle here and you have to work a lot with pens. First: mowing the grass. It grows quickly, it causes a lot of problems. These are ticks that even get into the house; and dried grass, capable of catching fire in the summer from any cigarette butt.
Secondly, it is snow. It drifted especially strongly this winter. A dozen times my neighbors and I jumped on a tractor so that we could go to the highway. By the way, the ambulance is unlikely to pass in such a snowfall. And also constantly have to unwillingly warm up with a shovel, removing snow in front of the house, from the paths and the roof. For whom is a healthy lifestyle, but for me the always aching lower back!
Thirdly, it is a vegetable garden. Dig up, weed, weed, spray, bring fertilizers, spend money on any inventory. I don't really understand the benefits of this whole event. For a bunch of greens and a dozen jars of spins? We do not have enough products for spinning from our beds and we buy it separately. Every autumn I go fishing to Astrakhan and on the way back I buy a full trailer of vegetables. I somehow doubt the profitability of my garden. If only for the sake of entertainment to contain it, or what?
Well, you have to fix something all year round. Now the wind led the fence, then the floors creaked in the house, then it began to blow from under the windows, then the downpour clogged, either the greenhouse was beaten with hail, the pump froze, or the roof in the shed leaked after a rainstorm - and so on until infinity. This requires materials, and you have to buy an expensive tool. There are many "delights" and "entertainment" in country life, and each of them takes time and health.
