How to solder a coupling to a polypropylene pipe if water leaks. A little trick of experienced plumbers.
When carrying out repair work in the bathroom, it is often necessary to solder to a polypropylene pipe, for example, a coupling when replacing a heated towel rail.
And everything would be fine, but only water when the riser is turned off, it usually leaks anyway.
In this case, it is not possible to obtain a reliable welding connection. Even a couple of drops of water will be enough to get lack of penetration.
But this does not mean that there is no way out.
Plumbers in this case have long been using one little trickwhich allows you to do reliable connection even in such conditions.
It will be discussed below.
To temporarily stop water ingress to the place of welding of a polypropylene pipe with a coupling, we need toilet paper.
First of all, wipe the accumulated water dry from the polypropylene pipe.
Then we crush several sheets of toilet paper into a lump and plug the hole in the pipe with it, pushing slightly inward.
We get some like a cork, in common people "Chopik".
Now you need to act quickly.
With a preheated soldering iron, we heat the sleeve and the end of the pipe.
We connect them and hold them in this position until the joint is completely solidified.
Instead of toilet paper, it is quite possible to use slice of bread. He will also be able to retain water during the soldering process.
It remains only to get our homemade "chopik" out of the pipe using a pencil and you can continue the installation.
