Tips for arranging ventilation in a private house! Pros and cons of natural ventilation
Everyone #house and #apartment equipped with a system of ventilation ducts or air ducts. Traction is formed in them, and air exchange takes place in the house. In most cases, air intake starts from the kitchen area and bathrooms. Channels and air ducts usually lead to the attic and further to the roof. Due to the resulting air draft, stale air from the house enters the street. A fresh stream enters through the cracks in windows and doors or into their openings.
The movement of air through channels and water ducts is due to two factors:
- warm air is lighter than cold air, so it rises up;
- air movement is directed from high pressure to low pressure.
Factors on which the traction force depends:
-
temperature difference between the air outside and inside the house
In summer, as a rule, the temperature difference is close to zero, so there is virtually no air exchange. -
house height
The pressure at the ground is always higher than at the top of the house, due to the pressure of the atmospheric air column. This means that the thrust is higher. -
wind direction and speed
Wind occurs when the pressure is unevenly distributed in the atmosphere. If the chimney has a low pressure zone, then the air from the house will freely flow out into the street and vice versa.
Since the above factors cannot be controlled, dependence on them is the main disadvantage of natural ventilation. There are several ways to at least minimize it.
IMPORTANT FOR THOSE WHO JUST BEGINNING TO BUILD A HOUSE:
- The exhaust ducts are best placed inside the walls in the middle of the house. Since they will always be warm, this will affect the temperature drop and improve traction;
- It is better to install air ducts of a square shape than a round one, since there is less space inside the walls. Although circular sections are easier to install and air moves through them more intensively;
- If, nevertheless, round is preferable for you, then it is better to install rigid ones, since they are less noisy and have less resistance to air movement. Although flexible is easier to install;
- It is better to make the ducts longer and wider to improve air draft. You can calculate the length and width yourself - there are online calculators for this on the network;
- Install duct pipes with the same diameter, if possible. When connecting air ducts with different diameters, the transition between them should be smooth. The angle of the drop is not more than 30 °.
A LITTLE ABOUT THE MAIN ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF NATURAL VENTILATION
pros
- Low price. The components of the ventilation system and the installation itself are quite affordable;
- Uncomplicated maintenance and cheap operation. No electricity is required for natural ventilation. There is no need to maintain it either.
Minuses
- Insecurity. As stated above, in summer, natural ventilation may work poorly, not work at all, or work in the opposite direction. As a result, there will be no guaranteed air exchange in the house;
- The possibility of drafts. In winter, the hood creates a strong draft, which can lead to strong drafts.
