Taught my wife to clean stainless steel spoons and forks, now they are always like new
Stainless steel spoons and forks are the most common and inexpensive cutlery found in every home. Their most important advantage is that they have a very long service life (I am sure that many of these cutlery have been serving since Soviet times). It is very easy to recognize such a fork or spoon, each of them is marked with a “stainless steel” stamp on the back side.
It is very easy to care for them and they can be easily washed even in cold water with the most common sponge. But many stainless steel cutlery has a variety of embossed patterns that can become clogged with grease or dirt over time. Cleaning such places is quite problematic, and in this case, ordinary detergent and a sponge will no longer help.
Our family has just such devices (with pictures). And recently the wife noticed that on many spoons and forks these patterns were clogged with something and darkened, and on teaspoons some kind of reddish-brown bloom even appeared (apparently due to the tea leaves). Naturally, she decided to clean them, but it didn't work!
In the beginning, my wife rubbed them for a long time with a regular sponge and detergent, it did not help. Then she began to clean them with a metal sponge, but she turned out to be powerless, the fat deeply eaten into the fine lines and hardened. After spending a long time, my wife gave up and said in a sad voice: "Eh, it didn't work to clean them." Seeing the cause of her upset, I smiled and said, “Why didn't you say it before? You need to be taught everything. Now I will show you an easy way to clean them and they will look like new! This way, my grandmother used to".
To begin with, we take some larger container (basin or saucepan).
Now we need some food baking foil.
Unwind a piece of foil and place it in a container (if the container is large, take a few pieces of foil).
Then we load there all the cutlery that we need to clean.
Now we take the most common baking soda and, not sparing it, pour spoons and forks on top.
Then we fill everything with boiling water so that the devices are completely in the water and wait 10-15 minutes. A very violent reaction will immediately follow.
During this time, all the fat will soften and exfoliate, even in the most embossed patterns. In the end, you just need to rinse the cutlery in water and dry it with a terry towel. By doing this once a month, spoons and forks will always shine and look like new.
