Review on a vernier caliper from China

Having decided to update my measuring instrument, I began to look for a replacement for my good old caliper made in the USSR. I didn’t want to pay too much for the brand, but I didn’t want to take the frank slag either. After several hours of searching, I settled on a Chinese meter with the silent name Messschieber paquimetro.

This model was sold in two versions: with and without a case. Since the difference in price was not so noticeable, I opted for the version with a case. And now I will tell you everything in detail about what came and of what quality.

Purchase and delivery

The package cost me 949 rubles and 29 kopecks with free shipping. The parcel arrived to the Stavropol Territory very quickly and after 5 days I picked up the parcel at my post office.

So, inside the box, apart from the meter itself and a brief instruction in English, there is nothing. Also, I was not able to check the product right away, as it turned out that a penny battery was not included in the package.

Of course, this is a trifle, but as for me, the seller could treat customers better and would give a battery as a bonus. Anyway. Going to the nearest specialized stall, I bought a 3.0 V AG13 battery.

So, finally inserting the battery into the socket, I started testing my new gadget.

Performance and quality check

First, a few words about the quality of the product. So, what I really liked was that the caliper is made of metal and, judging by the weight, this is not a wonderful silumin, but quite solid and strong steel. All clamps are also metal and securely fix the position of the meter.

The only housing with an electronic display is plastic, so it's better not to drop the caliper.

Also, the documentation for it indicates that its ultimate accuracy is limited to 0.01 millimeters. Well, let's check it out in practice, and as a reference for the measurement, I will use the dipsticks to set the valve clearances. You can see all measurements in the presented video.

So, after all the tests, I can conclude that the Chinese caliper turned out to be quite worthy device and will take its place in my personal workshop, because the quality and accuracy of measurements suits me perfectly.
