Magnetic clamp for welding. Who tried it, they no longer use the standard terminal
Anyone who used welding in inconvenient places, where it was impossible to catch on a flat surface with a crocodile clip, had to get out of the situation in different ways. Cling further away from the weld at the corner, press down on the terminal with a load. The most suitable way is to make a magnetic terminal from a magnet removed from an old unnecessary speaker (loudspeaker).
There are several options for how to make a magnetic terminal yourself:
1. Use washers that secure the magnet to the speaker. Drill a hole in them, pull off the magnet with a bolt, and screw the wire from the welding machine through the washers of a smaller diameter.
2. Screw the magnet and a wedge-sharpened bolt to the metal strip at one level. Screw the wire to the bolt through the washers.
Or the crocodile clip can not be unscrewed from the wire, but hooked to a bolt or a rod welded to the washer, which passes through the washer with a magnet to contact the workpiece.
I liked this option the most:
The magnetic terminal is made from magnets from an old hard drive, glued with epoxy glue to a washer. The washer is screwed to the crocodile through a wire with terminals. When convenient - use it, and where impossible - a magnetic terminal.
For those who do not have the opportunity to make one of these devices, a magnetic terminal can be purchased here:
A powerful neodymium magnet is screwed onto a piece of thick PCB and, at the same level, a hairpin with a sharpened end. It is possible to screw a terminal with a wire from the welding machine to the hairpin. The size of the magnetic terminal is 6.5x6x2.5 cm.
No current flows through the magnet and it does not demagnetize, unlike homemade terminals. Link to a similar terminal on aliexpress. Some pictures from buyers:
The hairpin is made of either a copper alloy or electroplated with a copper layer. According to reviews, everyone who purchased this terminal is completely satisfied, it is very convenient to use. After it, many crocodile terminals are not returned to the wire.
Who uses such a terminal - write your feedback in the comments.
