I spent a lot of time and effort on reinforcing aerated concrete. Now I realized how it was possible to make everything much easier.
Of course, it is better to learn from the mistakes of others, but you still cannot avoid your own. I hope that my experience will be useful to someone to make the right decision.
Friends, a big hello to everyone. When the construction process is in full swing, you usually think that everything is working out as it should (at least for the meta ...). Only at the end of the work, you begin to evaluate and compare the expended efforts, finances, and time. And already here, everything may not be so perfect.
Two years have passed since the moment I made the reinforcement of the masonry.
And only now I realized how much time and effort was spent on this process.
- Until you make the grooves for the fittings.
- Until you adjust all the rods (cut, bend as needed).
- Then all this needs to be laid and filled with a solution.
- And so every third row.
The result is of course positive. The house is standing, there are no cracks, everything is fine.
But it turns out that everything could have been made easier ...
Reinforcement of aerated concrete masonry is necessary only to prevent shrinkage cracks. But even if they appear (which happens to many), it will not affect the constructive reliability of the house.
1️⃣ Therefore, as an option, you can not do reinforcement at all. And in my house there is such an example too. In one of the gables, I somehow just forgot to lay the reinforcement. And nothing after two years, not a single crack.
2️⃣But if the soul is still out of place (like mine), that is, reinforcement options, but simpler, than the bookmark of the 8th armature, like mine.
✔ Reinforcing mesh.
✔ Punched tape.
- It all takes a little time
- There is practically no thickening of the seams. Both mesh and punched tape are up to 2 mm thick. With a permissible thickness of the glue line up to 3 mm. So we get into the norm.
- And there is enough strength to keep the blocks from shrinking.
And bricking reinforcement 8 mm is too much.
At least for low-rise construction for sure. In a house made of aerated concrete, the main thing is not to save on the foundation, and then the blocks will not go anywhere. I have already been convinced of this from my own experience.
Friends, I am waiting for your opinion on this issue in the comments. It is interesting to learn new information.
