It couldn't be easier: how to heat a greenhouse with a bucket, candle and sunflower oil
To get an early harvest, the greenhouse needs to be heated somehow. For these purposes, you can install an oven, but this will take time and require material costs. And electrical appliances consume a lot of energy, which negates the profitability of the garden. How to make a simple but effective heater - read on.
What is needed
For the manufacture of this heater you need:
- ordinary paraffin candle;
- metal tin can, preferably narrow and high;
- an old iron bucket or saucepan;
- screwdriver / drill;
- drill for metal with a diameter of 8-10 mm, knife;
- lighter or gas burner;
- the cheapest vegetable oil.
How to make
Everything is done very simply and takes no more than 15 minutes. We will tell you step by step.
- Wash the can by cutting off the lid.
- Cut the candle to fit the height of the can.
- Using a burner, melt the bottom of the candle and place it in the jar. When the wax has hardened, the candle should stick to the bottom of the tin.
- Place the jar flat on the ground. The heater should be installed a meter away from the greenhouse walls. This distance must be respected so as not to melt the cellophane.
- Pour the sunflower oil into the jar so that the level does not reach about 1 cm to the edge of the jar.
- Let's move on to the bucket. Drill 6-8 holes in a circle three centimeters from the bottom of the bucket.
- The final stage. Light a candle and cover it with a bucket. The heater is ready!
How and how efficiently it works
Such a device works very simply: the wick of a candle pulls the oil up, where it burns, heating the bucket, which in this case is a heat exchanger. The surface of the bucket is heated to 60-70 degrees Celsius.
Such a heater consumes about 150 grams of oil per day. One candle is enough to maintain a positive temperature of 6 sq. meters of the area. Accordingly, several such heaters can be installed in a large greenhouse.
