How to drain a site after winter: 3 "golden" ways

click fraud protection

Kneading dirt with your shoes in your own summer cottage is a dubious pleasure. And if you don't want to keep your feet in rubber boots all the time, read on for how to drain the area after the snow melts in the spring.

The first and most correct way - bury a drainage pipe on the site. The main thing is not to be self-righteous. I mean, if you take an ordinary PVC sewer pipe (gray or orange) and make cuts in it with a grinder, and then bury it with a slight slope, then such a structure will not last long. The cracks will be clogged with earth or clay, and the system will stop working in 2-3 years.

Now water is oozing through the pipe, but the earth will do its job - the cracks will be clogged in 2-3 years

What kind of pipe to bury? - you ask. And I will answer you: "bury a special drainage pipe."

Buy a drainage pipe wrapped in geotextiles and order two machines of unknown crushed stone: a large (40-60) fraction, and a smaller one - 20-40. At the bottom of the trench, you need to lay geotextiles, pour coarse gravel. Pour 4-5 cm of smaller rubble on top of large rubble and put the pipe in geotextile.

Remember the slope of 2 cm per meter!

Sprinkle fine gravel on the top of the pipe. Finally, cover with large rubble. If you get confused, remember the rule: the closer to the pipe, the finer the rubble should be.

Backfill with soil and forget about the water standing on the site.

Instead of an afterword: The miser pays twice, so backfilling the RIGHT pipe with rubble is the best solution.

Second option suitable only for recreation areas: they can be rolled into concrete (or paving slabs) and drainage trays with water intake wells can be laid. In this case, water can be safely dumped onto the horizon.

The third option - if you have a huge area, you can dig a pond on it and dump the spring water into it. But even the pond requires cleaning and maintenance, so this is an option for the desperate.
