Bedroom renovation: floor, ceiling and wall decoration

It is impossible to make a bedroom without decorating the ceiling. Initially, preparatory work should be performed. It is necessary to start work with the removal of old coatings. You can clean the ceiling using a scraper or trowel. After that, the surface should be washed.

Then you can start plastering.

If you intend to work with wood or steel coatings, then before treating the surface with plaster, you should stretch a metal mesh, the mesh size of which is 10x10 mm. It should be fixed, not excluding seams and joints, using studs or staples.

Then you can start installing beacons. First, you need to determine the zero mark. To do this, you need to use a paint cord. By locating the lowest point on the ceiling, you will find where the first beacon should be placed. It is not recommended to apply a layer of plaster exceeding 5 cm to the ceiling surface. To control the beacons in the horizontal plane, it will be necessary to use a 2 meter level.

If it is supposed to use a gypsum solution, then the next layer must be applied 20 minutes after the previous one. As for the cement mortar, a period of a couple of hours between the application of layers should be adhered to. The application of subsequent layers when using a lime mortar should be carried out after the previous layer has turned white. The first layer is applied by spraying; several primer coats should be applied to it, observing the time. They need to be leveled. It is necessary to remove the beacons after the last primer coat has been distributed. The completion of the plastering work will be the application of a covering layer.
