Water-based varnish on the kitchen countertop. 9 months later
Greetings.
Last summer, I talked about a two-part water-based varnish that I used to cover the oak countertop in my kitchen.
Recently, in the comments to the story about that countertop, I was asked: "And how did this varnish behave over time, does it have scratches or stains?"
A little more than 9 months have passed since the worktop covered with this varnish has been used in the kitchen and I think it is already possible to show how the worktop looks now.
I must say that I used this particular varnish for the first time and could only rely on the manufacturer's description.
For comparison, this is a photo immediately after applying and drying the varnish. (Photo was taken under artificial lighting)
This is what I have now, after 9 months. The photo was taken in daylight from a window and this color difference is only due to the lighting.
Bigger plans.
Before shooting, I did not specially wash or polish the tabletop. In this angle (photo above), you can see a few small stains from the detergent.
From other angles, the tabletop looks like this.
As you can see from the photos, the gloss on the surface is preserved, there are no scratches. The countertop looks decent.
Let me remind you that the water-based two-component varnish V33 was used.
I applied varnish with a brush in three layers. Subsequent coatings were applied every other day. Intermediate sanding was done with a 220 sanding machine.
The experience of using this varnish turned out to be positive for me and I think that in the future I will use it if necessary.
