It would seem that a wholesale order is a dream of any manufacturer - do it according to a well-established scheme and you do not need to think about implementation. Again, the more you do in a short time, the more you get.

True, not for everyone to produce, something in bulk will be profitable.

I'll tell you by my own example.

Incoming proposals

This year I received a couple of offers to make wholesale 3D puzzles, which I design myself and make to order from time to time.

The first the offer came from Turkey. A local entrepreneur wrote me a letter that he wants to order a similar puzzle from me and that I prepare for a large order from him, since he wants to sell such puzzles in his own Turkey.

Of course, he immediately hinted that it would be good to make a discount for a bulk order.

When I wrote to him that making such a puzzle is handmade, which cannot be automated and the price of one piece will not change, even if I make 20 or 40 pieces, and I named the price for one piece, then this merchant is gone.

Other the proposal came from a Russian businessman. He offered to make about 500-1000 pieces of such products in 3-4 months and also asked to name the wholesale price.

An excellent offer, if not for one thing - it is unrealistic to make such an amount for the specified time to one person.

In the correspondence, when I indicated so much I could actually do per day, a new proposal was made - 200 pieces for the specified period.

It's somehow more realistic, just to fulfill this order, you need to abandon other work and do only this, and work seven days a week for 10-12 hours a day.

I refused such an order. It's just not profitable for me to give up other sources of income in order to end up earning less than I have without this job.

You need to spend a minimum three hours. And this is continuous work, without smoke breaks for tea or coffee. And this is completely manual work, without the possibility of making it automated.

That is, a day can be done two similar puzzles.

Of course, if you don't give a damn about the quality, then you can do more, although then you can immediately send everything that you did to the furnace.

And now, calculate how much one such product should cost in order to be engaged in their manufacture every day for several months, seven days a week. And add to this cost, materials, consumption and electricity costs. Let these costs for each product be small, but they will still be. Because the size of the blanks for the manufacture of puzzles is approximately 50x50x130 mm., And as a material you need to use hard wood species (oak, beech, ash).

Once one person wrote to me that he was ready to buy such products for 200-300 rubles per piece. And when I refused him, he asked in surprise: “And why, the order is not needed or something? " In response, I asked if he was ready to work for 300-400 rubles a day. It turned out that he was not ready ...

Additional income

For me, making such puzzles to order is just an additional income. Therefore, I can sometimes set a small price for a product or just give it as a gift.

And if you turn it into a business, then the price of the product will be quite high.

That's how she is... handmade.
