Japanese scientists have developed a battery that can work for 5 years with almost no loss of capacity

However, a research team from the Japan Institute of Science and Technology has developed a revolutionary material that allows batteries to retain up to 95% capacity over five years of active use.

So most of modern batteries, due to the characteristics of the binder material, lose about 40% of their original capacity after 500 charge / discharge cycles. And Japanese scientists have found a unique bonding material that is several times superior to the existing one.
The new material is called bis-imino-acenaphthenequinone-paraphenylene (BP). So the use of the new material made it possible to save up to 95% of the battery capacity even after 1700 charge / discharge cycles.
So the creation of such rechargeable batteries can fundamentally change entire industries in which rechargeable batteries are actively used, for example, mobile phones or electric cars.
