For seven years he planted a forest near the site. Let's see what happened
My site is next to a mixed forest. The field itself, on which the plots are demarcated, is a former arable land. Pines began to grow here almost immediately. In about the same way as fields are overgrown. It was a pity to mow them along with the grass (after all, trees). And I transplanted them every spring. Every year, 20-30 seedlings were sent outside the territory of the site.
I propose to see what happened, what has grown over the years.
The first planted pines have long been higher than 2 m. And these plantings look almost like a young forest. Further from the fence - pines are lower, their age is 2-3 years less. And further into the forest, at the edge, were planted very young, they were planted 4 years ago.
I put up warning signs a few years ago. For motorcyclists and snowmobilers. In the early years, it was in the order of things for them to drive through the plantings through the site (when there was still no fence). We broke some trees, we had to plant them. In total, more than 200 trees have been planted (replanted) over the entire period.
The survival rate was good. Sometimes planted in forest soil, which thawed only 15 cm. Forest soil is always moist, especially in spring. Of the entire transplanted volume, about a dozen seedlings did not take root.
Because this edge was already planted, and new trees continued to grow, then they had to be transplanted somewhere else. I agreed with the HOA of an apartment building in the city that I would plant it on a certain part of the yard lawn.
The first year of landing were not fenced and dogs were walked among them. Accordingly, some of the trees were broken off. Later, the site was fenced off. But this did not completely save the situation. This year I planted this part completely. Some of the pines have already grown, about a meter high. Maybe their height will tell dog owners to walk their pets elsewhere. There was a sign that “walking dogs is prohibited” - they tore it out and threw it away.
Here in the city the survival rate of pines is worse. Pine does not shed needles like deciduous trees or larch, all atmospheric pollution accumulates in needles and it is difficult for trees to grow in such an environment. But he decided here at his entrance to grow a forest from his free stock of seedlings. Let's see what happens.
