Strawberries bloom: activities that need to be done with berry bushes in late May and early June
Starting in the second half of May, one of the most important periods in the development of strawberries begins. The future harvest of delicious berries will depend on the activities carried out at this time.
Strawberry activities: what points to pay attention to
The soil must always be moist. I water the plants every 4 days if there is no rain. I give top dressing every 10 days with equal NPK content. It can be nitroammofosk. Potassium humate or potassium monophosphate is also suitable.
When the fruits begin to form, it is necessary that more potassium prevails in the NPK formula, for example, 5:15:45. Due to potassium, the berries will be large and sweet. It accelerates the ripening of berries.
It is worth paying attention to the fact that the soil must be shed well before feeding. This will ensure better absorption of fertilizers, the solution will go directly to the roots.
By the end of May, well-groomed and well-fed strawberries look something like the one in the photo.
The green mass should be developed, but there should be a lot of peduncles. However, the number of ovaries will also depend on the variety of strawberries.
From organic matter, you can use rotted manure, which is poured between the bushes, and then the soil is slightly loosened. You can also prepare a solution from granulated chicken manure.
For this, a stock solution should be made. Add 3 liters of chicken manure granules to 6 liters of water. Next, you need to let the solution brew for 4-5 days so that the mixture becomes homogeneous. In this case, you need to stir the mass periodically.
Then a working solution should be prepared. This will require 0.5 liters of mixture per 12 liters of water. You do not need to do a large concentration, otherwise the plants can be burned. The amount of the mother liquor can be reduced to half and 15 grams of nitroammophoska can be added there.
If the solution remains, it can be used under berry bushes (currants, gooseberries, raspberries).
To have a lot of berries, a solution of boric acid and iodine is used.
You will need half a teaspoon of boric acid powder, which must first be dissolved in a small amount of hot water, and 10-15 drops of iodine per 10 liters of water. This mixture must be sprayed on strawberry bushes.
