He did, and he doubted the concrete beam above the span. Why was it needed, and how does it "feel" after a while?
When you pour a structure of self-weight concrete, and an arbitrary section, the result can be anything you want. But I knew why I was doing this, and at the same time I was reinsured (though in a strange way).
Friends, everyone is a huge hello. Do-it-yourself construction, in many moments, is an improvisation (at least for me), and starting some adventures, the result will be clear only after a long time.
For example, foundation, masonry, etc.
Although I tried to do everything with a margin in supporting structures, there was still one moment where everything was the other way around.
In my house there is one continuous span, from the floor to the ceiling of the attic.
And above it, I decided to pour a concrete beam.
This was done together with the filling of the armopoyas. And the only task of this beam was to make the armored belt inseparable.
And here I did not want to spend a lot, since the armopoyas was quite budgetary (section 150 by 100mm).
✅ In general, with a span length of about 2.5 meters, the cross-section of the beam is 200 by 150 mm (with 200 being the width). Even at a glance - the design is not the most reliable.
But two years have passed and everything is in order.
And the fact is that this beam is with a little secret ...
- As I said, all I needed from her was tensile work. And all the load that comes from the floor is taken over by a wooden beam, installed just above the concrete one.
- In addition (to be sure that this concrete structure does not fall on its head), both beams (both wood and concrete) are connected with studs.
Of course, as a single structure, all this does not work. But each fulfills its task.
All this is very incomprehensible and strange, even for me.
And for now, I would make it easier... But, without such experience "collective farm" is difficult to do when building a house with your own hands.
