Engineers around the world are working with several types of devices that can simulate the conditions in the bowels of the stars.

But numerous experts at the moment consider it to be tokamaks in the form of donuts (this is exactly the shape that has Chinese EAST, located at the Chinese Institute of Physical Sciences Hefei Chinese Academy of Sciences) the most promising.

EAST and its new world record

The metal torus has a series of magnetic coils, the main task of which is to hold heated plasma flows within certain limits for so long to ensure the process of flow reactions.

So, back in 2016, engineers working at EAST managed to obtain hydrogen plasma with a temperature of 50 million degrees, which they managed to hold for 102 seconds.

A new record was set in 2018, when it was possible to heat the plasma to 100 million degrees Celsius and hold it for 10 seconds.

And in 2021, engineers managed to set a new world record of 120 million degrees and hold such a heated plasma for 101 seconds. Also noted in the official report, the engineers managed to heat up the plasma to 160 million degrees and hold it for 20 seconds.

But the main challenge for engineers is the 100 million degree bar, which must be held for 1000 seconds (approximately 17 minutes).

Well, another world record has been set, and for some reason it seems that the Chinese scientists will achieve their stated goals, and in the foreseeable future (given their pace of work).

Well, we just have to wait a bit and eventually become witnesses of a real energy revolution, when thermonuclear reactors will become truly efficient and humanity will receive an environmentally friendly and practically inexhaustible source electricity.
